What is Kids FitCamp?

Kids FitCamp is a summer camp that is designed to be FUN for kids but has a purpose in helping kids get good healthy exercise each day. The main purpose of FitCamp is to make fitness FUN for kids; in other words, there will be many times that they're "playing games" and won't even realize that they're exercising!

Who Can Benefit From FitCamp?
ALL kids and teens! This camp is designed for general fitness to help kids and teens develop properly so that they can be healthy functioning adults. A lack of activity, especially seen in teens, can impede normal, healthy functional living later on.

What Will My Child Be Doing for 4 Hours? (Will they really be "working out" for 4 hours?)
Camp format is listed and described more in detail below. Each day, we'll take the kids through a series of beneficial exercises (with a proper warm-up), and then we'll incorporate games that reinforce those skills. Other fun games will be included to keep the kids moving and having fun.

We WILL take a snack break each morning and will get out of the heat/sun when needed. The kids will have plenty of opportunities to drink supportive fluids, also.

Finally, we'll use the pool to "cool off" after lunch, which will be a fun way to end the day!

Summer Kids Fit Camp Offerings

Kids Fit Camp - Ages 7 to 12
Time: 9:30 AM to 1 PM Monday-Friday

Programs designed to improve all aspects of fitness and athletic ability for kids of all levels of ability. Great for preparing kids for any sport! Also great for getting kids active and giving them a love for fitness!
Cost: $150/wk, non-members $175
10% discount offered for additional weeks or for sib-lings.
Early drop-off and late pick-up can be arranged.

Teen Fit Camp - Ages 12 to 18
Time: 3 PM to 5 PM Monday-Friday

Designed specifically for teens to help them stay strong as their bodies transition and teaches the im-portance of maintaining their fitness. Great for teens in sports, but also great for those who do not play a sport.
Cost: $100/wk, non-members $115

Speed Camp-Ages 12 to 18
Time: 1:30-3:00 PM Monday-Friday

A more advanced fitness camp for kids who are in a sport and are desiring to improve their speed and movement for their sport.
Cost: $125/wk, non-members $150


Kids Fit Camp Typical Schedule (Monday - Friday)

9:00 AM - 9:30 AM - Check-in (Please let us know if you need earlier check-in, which can be arranged.)

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM - Warm-up/Workout- During this time, we'll do our workout of the day, which will include a great warm-up that will actually help your child's mobility, flexibility, and coordination. This is not a "static" warm-up but involves getting the kids moving in a way that warms up muscles specific to the exercises we'll be doing for the day. The workout will be focused and effective but will NOT be extremely long. It will be catered to the group's fitness level and age.

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM - Games plus snack break- We'll make sure the kids take small breaks throughout the morning to cool off and drink lots of fluids. Games will be fun ways to keep kids moving and exploring different skills. Watch the video to see examples of games and exercises! Kids will need to bring their own snack, unless approved to buy snacks from the Palisades.

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Dynamic and/or static stretching routine- Post-workout work on flexibility to help kids increase their range of movement and improve weaknesses.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Lunch and pool time- We'll sit and eat lunch before they go to the pool, and we'll reapply sunscreen. Then, it's time to end the day with some fun in the pool! Kids must bring their own lunch.

1 PM Checkout - Let us know if you have a need for late check-out. There is a small charge, depending on whether it's daily or for the week.

Fridays - Special Awards Day and Graduation Day Activities! (Very popular among campers!)

Our Friday schedule has had rave reviews from former campers and will be a day that campers will remember until next year! We will have an ice cream party and an awards ceremony where each child will receive a Superlative award and an evaluation that they'll be able to take home with them. We also have some unforgettable activities during the mornings on Fridays, including an Olympics format where kids play games on teams and are able to collect points to determine which team wins at the end of the day! There are points awarded even for team spirit and most colorfully dressed!
